Directional Drilling

Creating a bore plan is one the most critical elements of a successful bore. A bore plan provides a graphic visualization of the job, helping the crew to see the job from start to finish. A well planned bore will allow a smoother and easier installation of product pipe. We begin our bore plan by entering the existing topography information, locations of existing underground utilities and target depths into a bore planning software. Once all of the above are entered we then can change the target depths until we have determined the optimal bore path.

The software will allow us to verify the following:

 1. Required minimum depth
 2. Insure adequate clearance of existing utilities
 3. Determine if the bore path exceeds the drill rod or product minimum bend radius
 4. Establish the optimal bore path and end up on target

Please view the following 2 bore plans:

1st Bore:

We bored under Lackawanna Lake at the Lackawanna State Park near Clarks Summit, PA. The lake was approximately 155' wide and 23' deep where we bored underneath the lake bottom. The scope of work included directionally drilling approximately 500' and installing a 2" force main made of HDPE pipe.

2nd Bore:

525' of 6" HDPE was installed underneath the Northbound and Southbound lanes of PA Rt. 1, a creek and approximately 260' of woodland in Jennersville, PA.

This photograph is near the location where we crossed underneath Rt. 1.
